MOTORSPORTS IN INDIA
But, in India and other developing countries, motorsports are yet to get the popularity it deserves. A study conducted by the sports management students of Sports & Management Research Institute (SMRI), India’s topmost sports management and sports engineering research and training institute identifying the following points as the roadblocks for the development of motorsports in India and other developing countries.
ROADBLOCKS FOR DEVELOPMENT
- Motorsports is expensive and only rich can afford
- Inadequate infrastructure like race tracks
- Inadequate media coverage to attract the attention of commoners
- Absence of big tournaments, big players and big wins.
Inspired by the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision of the Government of India, the sports management and sports engineering students of SMRI came with the idea of the PROFESSIONAL 3WHEELER RACING with the objective of making India a motorsport superpower.
Already, many illegal autorickshaw races and stunts are taking place in different parts of India and the globe. The proposed PROFESSIONAL 3WHEELER RACING Grand Prix aims to organize legalized 3WHEELER RACING in the format of FORMULA 1 RACING. It will include 10+ races a year in closed and open tracks across India.
Presently, India is the world leader in autorickshaw making and the professional 3Wheeler Racing will help the Indian autorickshaw makers to uphold their global leadership status. This ‘Make in India’ 3Wheeler racing will bring new ideas and innovations to make 3 wheelers more safe, fast and attractive.
