Sports & Management Research Institute (SMRI) View mapThe Sports Goods Industry was founded by Sardar Ganda Singh Oberoi in the year 1883 at Sialkot and Sports Equipment became the first Indian Industrial Product to be exported in 1885. India’s sports goods industry is 135 years old and has flourished, driven by a skilled workforce. Being labour-intensive in nature, the industry provides employment to more than 500,000 people. India’s sporting goods are popular around the world and have made a mark in the global sports goods market. The domestic industry exports nearly 60 per cent of its total output.
After liberalization of India and introduction of the WTO agreements, sports goods sector is experiencing tremendous competition from foreign brands. Currently, the industry in mainly focused in the small-scale and cottage sector backed by some of the government’s liberalized industrial policies. There is also a wide scope for improving the marketing of products and modernizing the technology used for manufacturing them.
In the occasion of the 135th Anniversary of Indian SPORTS GOODS MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY, Sports & Management Research Institute (SMRI), the first sports management and sports engineering institute in India takes another step to accomplish a great Indian dream, “MAKING INDIA SPORTS SUPERPOWER.”
INDIA, THE NEXT SPORTS SUPERPOWER- INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SPORTS MANAGEMENT
This conference is initiated by Sports & Management Research Institute (SMRI) with the objective of making India Sports Superpower. We cordially invite papers from all over the world to participate in “INDIA, THE NEXT SPORTS SUPERPOWER”. This conference is an open platform for the Sports Enthusiasts to present their Innovative ideas and research work thereby providing them an opportunity to interact with experts from Sports industry. The conference will bring together leading researchers, Entrepreneurs and Academicians in the domain of sports.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Prospective Authors are invited to submit the Papers which are relevant to the themes of conference. Authors should indicate the theme under which the paper should be considered. All contribution should be of high quality, Original and not published elsewhere or submitted for publication. During the review period, Papers will be reviewed by eminent scholars in the respective areas. All selected papers will be published in the SPORTS BUSINESS JOURNAL in print version and online version.

Abstract Submission: Abstracts not exceeding 500 words on any of the aforesaid themes should be sent to the Organizing Secretary through email at campus.tvm@smri.in on or before 10th January, 2019.
Submission of Completed Research Paper: Completed research paper, maximum in 10 pages in double column format as word doc and copyright form should be submitted together as separate attachment through email at campus.tvm@smri.in on or before 15th January, 2019.
